Frequently Asked Questions

Question Answer
How much does Keep2Budget cost? $49.95 US
Are there any ongoing costs or fees? No, there is nothing else pay after the initial purchase.
Do I have to pay for any future upgrades? In terms of upgrades to fix any bugs, no, those upgrades will always be free.
In terms of a new version of the product being released, yes, users wishing to upgrade to the newer version would pay the upgrade cost, but we will not force users to upgrade. Users can choose to stay on their current version.
If I do upgrade, will my budget transfer or do I have to start again? We will provide a transfer wizard with any product upgrade to ensure your data is transferred.
Are you a real company? We are definitely real. We have been a company and been online since 2004. We have appeared in tv programs and newspapers (google "keep2budget"). We are a legal entity and offer customers a legitament product that has been downloaded hundreds of times since 2004.
What kind of support do you offer? We offer direct support through email at support@keep2budget.com. We constantly monitor this email box and respond to all queries within 24 hours at the latest (most are done within 4 hours). Our support is highly personalised and you can email us as often as you like. We can even chat on the phone if you wish.
How is your product different to just using Excel? Excel is a very good spreadsheet tool, but not a real time budget monitoring tool. It cannot display data in complicated ways other than in columns and rows. Budgets done in Excel are typically retrospective in nature; they are an evaluation of the past, not of current performance. Keep2Budget helps you track your budget in real time, seeing the movement of money between your budget as it happens.
How does it compare to other larger programs like Quicken and MS Money? We do not claim to match Quicken's or MS Money's capabilities. These are more advanced tools for more advanced budgeters. They are also 4 times more expensive. We aim to help people starting out with their budget, who don't want to spend a lot of money on complicated programs that can take 4 weeks to learn.
Why do I have to give my name, phone and address details when I pay by Credit Card? This is purely for credit card fraud prevention only. We process all credit card payments through 2checkout.com and they need to be able to verify the credit card. In the event of a dispute, your details are used to verify you.
What do you do with my personal information? We do absolutely nothing with your personal details. All we store about you is your email address and the day you purchased the program. The credit card processing company keeps your other details securely for fraud prevention but we do not get access to it. Check out our Privacy Policy.
I have paid for a serial key but have not yet received it. Why? Please allow up to 12 hours for your serial key to come through in an email. At the moment, we have to manually create the serial key and email it to you. We are working on automating this so that you can get the serial key instantly in the future. If you have not received a serial key within 12 hours, please email us immediately.
What do I do if I have lost my serial key? Email us at support@keep2budget.com. Tell us your name and we can retrieve your serial key from our database and re-send it to you.
I don't understand the "wallets" approach. What exactly is it? For a more lengthy answer, check out our Product page.
Essentially, it replicates the age-old practice of dividing up your physical pay into actual jars, each jar representing a different type of expense, eg. a jar for rates, rent, food, car, mortgage, electricity, etc. With your money in the right jars, you always knew whether or not you had enough money to pay for your bills. It also gave you confidence that you could afford that dress or case of wine because you could quickly check to see if the mortgage jar was appropriately topped up.
It is like having one bank account for each expense category.
Keep2Budget is the only personal budgeting software program that brings that to life in software. Instead of jars, we came up with wallets.
